Sweeping & Mopping Isn’t Enough

How often is your facility stripped and waxed? Sweeping and mopping will allow a clean look for so long. Proper upkeep on flooring is often forgotten; we literally walk all over them causing them to take daily abuse. A neglected floor can end up beyond repair, resulting in costly repairs over time.

WHY IS STRIPPING AND WAXING NECESSARY?

The apparent outcome of stripping and waxing a floor is attaining a finish with a desired luster. Additionally, stripping and waxing removes dirt and filth the floor has collected. Waxing a floor produces a barrier, which assists in protecting the floor from damage. Wax acts as a shield and reduces the floor from being damaged.

This process also improves floor maintenance. As stated above, sweeping and mopping a floor only works for so long. Removing old wax and applying new wax protects the floor from dirt accumulation and scratches. Wax has polymers that generate an unseen protective layer that provides a barrier.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU STRIP AND WAX A FLOOR?

Stripping and waxing a floor is determined by the level of wear, however, it is suggested this process be completed once or twice per year. As stated above, wax has polymers that create a protective layer. When these polymers begin to deteriorate it is an indication to strip and wax.

OTHER NECESSARY ALTERNATIVES IN BETWEEN STRIPPING AND WAXING.

Maintaining the luster in your floor isn’t achieved by only stripping and waxing. A floor must be cleaned and mopped regularly. Additionally, one may find it beneficial for the floor to be scrubbed or burnished in between stripping and waxing. One can also complete a scrub and re-coat during a regular maintenance of the flooring.
